1.  The Continuing Adventures of Shaikh Muhaiyaddeen (Louie Beutler)

Spiritual Letter 17 was a great adventure for this child into the world within each of us, for in truth all that we currently see as existing "outside" of us is really "inside" of us, is really the School of Contrast that God has personally placed within each of us, so we can understand who we already are, so we can understand the history of God, our history, and the history of many others.
                                                                                                                        - go to outline
a.  God Has Already Taught Us Everything - it is all written within us

For as Bawa teaches us in the book, Shaikh and Disciple, and as referenced in the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship Calendar, for March, 1998,

"God has already taught you everything.  It is all written within you.
Before you came here, He told you,

'I'm sending you to a school called the world.  It is a temporary place.
You have to go there for a little while in order to learn about My history,
your own history, an the history of many others.'

'You have to know who created everything, who is responsible for
everything, who is the Guardian in charge of you, and what is your true
                    property.'

'Once you have learned and understood all these histories, you will
realize who you are, and who is the One you need, the true One, the
                    One who will live forever.'
                                                                                                                        - go to outline
b.  We Must Learn To Look At Ourselves - not at the world "outside" of us

And as His Holiness teaches us in the book, "Questions of Life - Answers of Wisdom", and as referenced in the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship Calendar, for May 1998,

"Do not look at the world and run behind it.  Do not look at a book and run
the way it tells you to.  (Instead) try looking at yourself and run in that
direction.   (But) before you run, try and understand your senses.  Do not run
after happiness and comfort.  Understand what sorrow is and what joy is and
          walk warily." (1)

"Do not believe that everything is tasty.  Before you eat you must know that
some things are wrong, and some things are bad for you.  In everything, you
must know  the right and the wrong." (2)

"Do not marvel at the things of the world.  The world is only a small dot, a
small point.  (Instead) look at yourself, understand yourself, and marvel at
          what you see there." (3)

And His Holiness teaches us, in a discourse on 5/10/83,

"If you do not have the things of the world, the world will not have you."

c.  The Beginning of the Adventure - the gathering of the Children of Bawa
Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with each of Us)

This adventure began on the morning of April 8th, 2002, when our dear sister Rumi Smith sent our dear brother Asma'el Muhaiyaddeen (Rick Hacket) to pick up this brother and deliver him at the Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Fellowship at  5820 Overbrook Avenue, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

This set into motion a series of events and meetings which culminated in the writing of a letter on April 17th to our dear brother Jalaal Deen (Rob Peddle) which has been edited and expanded into what is now on May 3rd, 2002, Spiritual Letter 17, in the
Bawa Muhaiyaddeen On-line Library
.

What a wonder is this God our ours, and His gift for this age, this age of Rahim, this age of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), when God pulls everything back into Himself, from which it has all come, to complete His intention within each of us, which is to reveal God within God within True Man within each of us.
What a wonder is this gift of God for this age, this gift of the life and teaching of God for this age for the Children of God for this age, this gift of the life and teaching of
Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), of our Father, Shaikh Muhammad Rahim Bawa Muhaiyaddeen (may God be pleased with Him), for the
Children of Bawa Muhaiyaddeen
(may God be pleased with each of Us).

Amen, Amen, Ya Rabil Alameen.  Amen, Amen, Ya Rahman Alameen.  Amen, Amen, Ya Rahim Alameen.  Al-hamdu lillah.  Allahu Akbar.
